Roti pizza Recipe on tawa - Stove top No oven chapati pizza:

Simple Roti pizza Recipe - Learn how to make roti pizza quite easily at home on tawa. Roti Roti - the easiest way and healthiest way to enjoy the flavors of pizza toppings. I have used readymade tomato sauce this time to make the pizza. But if you can make your own homemade pizza sauce at home and use it, this roti pizza recipe is healthy ultimately. I am tagging this recipe to my collection of Indian snacks for kids.

I have added only tomato, onion and capsicum to make this roti pizza. But you can add any other vegetable as you wish like corn, babycorn, olives and so on.

Please note that this easy and simple roti pizza recipe requires no oven to make roti pizza. So, you do not need to worry about owning an oven.

The toppings are the most important one while making roti pizza. The roti acts just like a pizza base. Keep it slightly thicker than your normal roti but lesser than pizza base. The flavor of roti should not be dominating. It should just act as a soft base.

You can add garlic powder or make garlic juice and add it. It gives nice aroma and flavor. I did not add it.

Cuisine: Indian Category: Snacks/Breakfast/Dinner Yields: 3-4 chapathi pizza

Ingredients
  • Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Big Onion - 1
  • Capsicum - 1
  • Tomato - 1
  • Mozzarella cheese - As required
  • Oregano - As required
  • Tomato sauce - As required
  • Olive oil - As required to knead the dough(optional)

Instructions
  1. Make roti dough as usual. You have to add sugar in addition with salt while preparing the roti dough. This is just to add a little sweetness to the roti. You can add olive oil if required to make a smooth dough.
  2. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Meanwhile chop the vegetables and keep it ready.
  3. You can either grate or chop(into very small cubes) mozzarella cheese.
  4. Make large balls. The process is same as your normal roti preparation but the size of the balls should be little larger than your regualr roti dough balls. If the roti is too thin, the roti pizza will not be good.
  5. Flatten the roti dough as usual.
  6. Heat dosa tawa and cook one side of roti only till light or golden brown spots start to appear. You can drizzle little olive oil if you desire. I did not add.
  7. Roti pizza recipe step 1
  8. Take the roti from the tawa. Switch off the stove. Keep it in low flame if your tawa is not too hot. Even low flame of my stove heats more. So, I used to switch off the stove. You can also remove the dosa tawa from the stove and keep it aside. But it is a tedious job. You have to find a place to place the hot tawa.
  9. On the cooked side of the roti, keep a spoon of tomato sauce and spread all over the roti. You can add as much as you like.
  10. Then spread the vegetables evenly on the tomato sauce.
  11. Spread the mozzarella cheese all over.
  12. Spread oregano all over. You can add dry basil herb too if you want.
  13. roti pizza recipe step 2
  14. Sprinkle little salt all over. If you want, you can sprinkle pepper powder too. I did not add pepper powder.
  15. Transfer the roti pizza carefully to the tawa back with the uncooked side in the bottom. The vegetables should be on top.
  16. Keep the stove in low flame. Cover the roti pizza with a lid. I used the lid of my idli pot.
  17. Cook it till the bottom side gets cooked. Do not over cook. Cook just till golden or light brown spots appear. If you allow till the spots to become black. It will not be cooked. The base of roti pizza should be soft. By this time, the cheese should have gone goey.
  18. Transfer the roti pizza immediately to another plate. Cut it with pizza cutter or knife into 4 pieces. Serve it hot with tomato ketchup.

I have used:

Ashirvaad Atta flour - Bought from local super market.
Keya oregano - Bought from Bigbasket.com
Kissan Tomato ketchup - Bought from local super market.
Milky Mist Mozzarella Cheese - Bought from local super market.
