Papaya Jam Recipe Without Pectin and Preservatives Homemade & Natural:

Papaya Jam is made without pectin and preservatives. It is made with low sugar. I made this Indian Papaya(Papita in Hindi) Jam yesterday and amazed with the result. I immediately spread the homemade papaya jam on a whole wheat bread and served to my kid. He liked it and asked for papaya jam in a bowl.

Whenever I like to eat something sweet, I take a spoon of Papaya Jam to cherish. You can have roti, bread, dosa with Papaya Jam. It will be very tasty. Papaya lovers will surely love it. If you do not love Papaya, I am sorry as you might not love it. We do not need to add any preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors and any other chemicals into it. It is purely homemade. It is 100% natural without any chemicals.

Use a clean and dry canning jars or any glass jars for storing Papaya jam. I keep a small dry stainless steel spoon inside the glass jar itself. Using wet or unclean spoon can easily degrade the Papaya jam.

Cuisine: Indian Category: Jam Yields: 1 cup
Prep Time: Cook Time: Total Time:

Ingredients
  • Papaya Puree made from fresh Papaya - 2 cups(200 ml)
  • Sugar - 1/4 + 1 tbsp(Adjust according to your taste)
  • Lemon juice - 1/4 tsp(Adjust according to your taste)

Instructions
  1. Peel a medium size Papaya and remove the seeds. Cut the Papaya into slices roughly.
  2. Make fresh Papaya Puree by grinding the Papaya slices in a mixer grinder. No need to add water.
  3. Take a wide pan with heavy bottom. I used my iron kadai. You can use non stick pan also. Try to avoid thin bottomed kadai as the jam might stick to the pan. Add 2 cups(400ml) papaya puree into it. Add 1/4 cup of sugar. Mix well. Keep the flame in low-medium. Stir frequently to avoid the Papaya jam sticking to the bottom of the kadai.
  4. After 15 minutes, check the taste. If required, add more sugar as you desire. I have added just 1 tbsp of sugar. You can add as much as you want. Stir again. Soon, you will get the jam consistency. Switch off the stove and add 1/4 tsp of lemon juice. Mix well and allow the Papaya jam to cool down completely.
  5. Once the papaya jam becomes cool, store it in an air tight container. I recommend using glass jars/canning jars for Papaya jam storage. Keep it in fridge for longer shelf life.
