Homemade Lip Scrub Recipe - A DIY lip scrub for dark and dry lips with honey and sugar. You can now make your own homemade lip scrub to lighten your lips and to get pink lips upon regular application. You can apply this homemade lip scrub(without olive oil) before applying lip color. It helps to create a smooth canvas. Also, this homemade lips scrub can moisturize your lips. It exfoliates the dead skin around your beautiful lips naturally.
Whenever I apply some commercial product on my lips, I always worry about the chemicals which might affect the lips badly. Needless to say, they go inside also whenever we lick the lips, eat or drink something. When we can treat our lips naturally, not only the lips but the whole body will be thankful to us for avoiding harmful chemicals going inside.

Nowadays I am sticking to mostly home remedies like banana peel for acne and homemade oatmeal facemask. This is the one which got recently added to my natural beauty remedies list.

Ingredients for Homemade Lip Scrub - DIY Lip Scrub:
Sugar - 1/2 tsp or Granulated sugar - 1/2 tsp
Honey - 1/2 tsp
Optional - Not for sensitive, chapped and dry lips.:
Coconut Oil - 1/2 tsp
or
Lemon or Sweet Lime or Orange juice - 1/2 tsp(1 tsp for smooth and thin lip scrub. I have added 1 tsp)
If you want a thick lip scrub, you can increase the quantity of sugar.
Important:
If you are allergic to citrus fruits, you might need to skip orange juice. Sometimes citrus fruits might be allergic to some people. Stop adding citrus juice immediately. Wash it off if you feel irritating.
Instructions to make homemade lip scrub - DIY Lip Scrub:
1. If you do not have granulated sugar, powder the sugar coarsely and not finely.
2. Take a clean and dry bowl. Mix honey and sugar well. Add juice or oil if you like to add.
Your homemade lip scrub is ready to use. Is this not a very simple DIY lip scrub that anyone can make?
Instructions to apply homemade lip scrub - DIY Lip Scrub:
1. Clean and pat dry your lips.
2. Gently rub the homemade lip scrub on your lips for 15 seconds. Don't be harsh. Gentle scrubbing is enough. Leave the lip scrub on for 2 minutes.
3. Wash it off with clean water and pat dry. If you want you can leave it for long time. You can also lick it off as it is very tasty.
You can use this homemade lip scrub once or twice a week.
I always like to have smoother lip scrub. So, I use 1 tsp juice. It gives a good glossy effect. I never like to wash it away :) It tastes so good and no one have heart to wash it off. Instead most of us will lick it off which I do most of the times. It also gives you a good glossy effect if you make a thinner version. So, if you are going outside, you can leave it on as it can give you glossy effect for sometime. It does not stay long like lip gloss but it will give you a short term glossy effect like lip balm.
Storage suggestion:
As the DIY Homemade lip balm recipe is quite easy and made with common ingredients, it is great if you can make it fresh everytime. If not, you can make it for 2 applications. You can store it in an clean and dry air tight container. Refrigerate it as we are adding juice.
Sugar for Lips - Benefits:
Sugar in the homemade lip scrub helps to exfoliate the dead skin. It is a good anti-aging ingredient.
Honey for lips - Benefits:
Pure Honey is a natural moisturizer which has a lot of beauty benefits for your lips. It helps to moisturize your lips. It helps to treat dark, dry and chapped lips. Lemon/ Sweet Lime / Orange can lighten your lips naturally. People with very dry, chapped and irritating lips should avoid it.
