Murungai Keerai Recipes | Drumstick Leaves | Moringa Leaves Pakoda Recipe:


Murungai Keerai Pakoda is a very easy Pakoda recipe that can be made very quickly. Drumstick leaves are called as Moringa Leaves in Hindi and Murungai Keerai in Tamil. Instead of making simple Pakoda, you can increase the nutritional value by adding Drumstick leaves. Drumstick leaves are well known for strengthening the immunity power.







Murungai Keerai is widely used for treating Anemia in Tamil Nadu. It is good for diabetes too. Murungai Keerai leaves are often ignored. If your kids do not like the taste of it to eat as a Murungai Keerai Poriyal, try adding it to the yummy Pakoda.



I am adding this to my Healthy School snacks recipes collection. Please note that try to keep a limit of deep fried items you are adding to the diet. Weekly once might not be a problem.

Murungai Keerai Pakoda Recipe | Drumstick Leaves | Moringa Leaves Recipe Make this healthy evening snacks with drumstick leaves by following this recipe. Drumstick leaves are really good in increasing immunity power, strengthening bones, controlling blood pressure, diabetes. It is also good for anemic people.

Ingredients
  • Besan Flour/Kadalai Mavu - 100 g
  • Rice Flour - 2 tbsp
  • Murungai Keerai / Morinaga/Drumstick Leaves - 1/4 cup packed
  • Big Onion - 1 finely chopped
  • Red Chilli powder - 3/4 tsp or as required
  • Salt - As required
  • Asafoetida - 2 pinches
  • Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp(optional)
  • Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Water - As required
 
Instructions
  1. Clean and chop big onion, drumstick leaves, curry leaves and coriander leaves finely.
  2. Take a wide mixing bowl. Add besan flour, rice flour, salt and red chilli powder. Mix well.
  3. Add finely chopped onion slices, drumstick leaves, Curry Leaves, and coriander leaves. 
  4. Add asafoetida and fennel seeds if you are adding.
  5. Sprinkle water little by little and make a thick Pakoda dough.
  6. Heat oil. Once it is hot, deep fry the Pakoda in batches.


Murungai Keerai Pakoda is ready to serve. Serve with coconut chutney or any of your favorite chutney. You can see all the chutney recipes here - Chutney recipes.
