I have already posted how to make puli kulambu podi/Kara Kulambu podi/Kulambu podi at home for long term storage and puli kulambu recipe. Looking at the popularity of these 2 posts and based on the request from a reader, I am posting the recipe of Instant Puli Kuzhmabu podi here. You can use this puli kulambu podi for making Puli kuzhambu, Vatha kulambu, Theeyal for 4 to 5 people. If you have some left over powder, store it in an air tight container and use it for next time. This will be very useful if you are trying these Kulambus for first time especially if you not a South Tamilian since they make it regularly. We go for making Puli Kulambu podi for long term storage which is meant to save time. Instant Puli kulmabu podi is a fresh one and the aroma will be so good. Also, you can make instand Puli Kulambu podi when you have guests at home.
Tamarind Curry Powder Recipe(Puli Kulambu Podi in Tamil):
Tamarind Curry Powder Recipe(Puli Kulambu Podi in Tamil):
Ingredients:
Dry Red Chillies - 6 - 7
Jeera/Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Dhaniya/Coriander seeds - 4 tsp
Toor dal - 2 tsp
Curry leaves - 4 tsp
Black pepper - 1/2 tsp
Rice - 3 tsp
Garlic - 2 cloves(optional)
Preparation:
1. Dry roast all the ingredients in low flame till they turn to golden brown color without getting burnt.
2. Allow it cool. Add garlic if you like. Grind it in a mixie to make a fine powder.
Note:
The ingredients will turn more brown color even after you switch off. So, switch off once you see the ingredients in the color as in the picture.
Store the remaining puli kulambu/kara kulambu powder in an air tight container for future use.
