Ingredients
- Plain Flour/Maida - 200 g
- Salt - 1/4 tsp or to taste
- Sugar - 1/2 tsp
- Olive oil - 1/4 cup(any other edible oil if you do not have olive oil)
- Baking powder - 3/4 tsp
- Cheese - 1 cube or as preferred(I have used Amul cheese cube)
- Oregano and other herbs - As required
- Pepper powder - As required(optional, I did not add)
- Chilli flakes - As required(optional)
- Big onion - 1/2 sliced
- Tomato - 1/2 sliced(optional)
- Capsicum - 1/2 sliced
- Tomato ketchup/sauce - As required
- Mix plain flour, sugar, salt, olive oil and baking powder. You can add oregano and any other herbs if you like the pizza dough with a touch of herbs. Sprinkle water and make a dough like chapathi dough. Keep it covered for 30 minutes. Cut the vegetables and keep it ready.
- After 25 minutes, remove the gasket and whistle from the pressure cooker and heat the cooker with the lid closed. I have used Prestige Popular Senior Deep Pan . Heat it for 5 minutes in high flame. This process is called Preheating and you are creating oven like environment in cooker. Do not add water.
- Take the dough and roll out into a medium size pizza with a diameter of 8-9 inches approximately. The pizza should be thin but slightly thicker than chapathi. The appropriate size is 1/4 inch. If you make it as thick pizza, the inner side of the pizza will not be cooked properly. No dusting is required mostly as we have added enough oil. If your dough is too sticky, get the help of oil or flour for dusting. Prick holes all over the rolled pizza base dough with a fork as shown in the picture for even cooking.
- Grease the cooking pan with olive oil and place the pizza dough. I used a plate in appropriate size which can go inside the cooker. Once the preheating of pressure cooker is done for 5 minutes, place the perforated cooker plate(or anything similar) inside the cooker. Place the pizza base on top of the plate and cover it with a thick steel lid or lid of pressure cooker without gasket and whistle. I used thick steel lid which I got with my aapam pan so that the safety valve or any other part of cooker does not get damaged. The sides of the pan should not touch the sides of the cooker. Cook the base for 10 minutes in medium flame.
- Cook the dough for 10 minutes in medium flame. Then take the pizza pan out keeping the cooker flame to low. Flip the pizza with the help of a spatula to the other side.
Spread tomato ketchup on the base. Use as much as you like. Arrange the vegetables as desired. Grate cheese all over the pizza base.
- Place the pizza pan again inside the cooker with the help of a pot holder. Cook the dough for 10 more minutes in medium flame(time varies depending on several factors like dough thickness, flame level and pan thickness so on). Then lower the flame to low flame if the dough is not cooked well and cook till the dough is cooked well. Check the consistency of the pizza dough frequently after 10 minutes since you have flipped over so that the base of the pizza does not get burned or turn hard. Just insert a knife inside the pizza dough and it should come out clean when the pizza dough is cooked well. You can also cut a very little portion of dough from the edges and taste to check whether the dough is cooked completely. The timing varies based on several factors. So keep checking the pizza dough.. Once you switch off the stove, remove from the flame immediately. If the base becomes hard, it will not be good. Take care that the bottom of the pizza which touches the pan should not turn hard.
- Sprinkle oregano or any other herbs, chilli flakes if you like and serve hot with tomato sauce as much as you love.
Looks yummy.. mouth watering... :D
