Chana Masala Recipe/Chole Masala Recipe

Hello friends,

Today, I am going to share you a wonderful recipe shared by my friend. She introduced me to this recipe when we stayed together. All of my friends are great fans for this recipe. Now, my whole family  loves this Chana Masala recipe/Chole Masala Recipe. My sister's friends and relatives are also in the fans list. If I prepare any other side dish for Poori, my hubby limits the count to 4. If I prepare this Chana Masala/Chole Masala, he loves not to put limit because of this delicious Chana Masala :-) My 1.75 years old kid will have Poori with just the gravy. I do not give Chana to him since it is not easily digestible for him. He likes it to have Poori/Chapathi. Happy with the recipe since no one is exempted from the fan list of Chana Masala Recipe/Chole Masala Recipe.

Chana Masala/Chole Masala Recipe:

Ingredients:

Chana Dal - 150 g(soaked overnight and boiled in pressure cooker for 8 whistles)
Onion - 1 Tomato - 1
Coconut grated - 75g
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 tsp(optional)
Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - A pinch
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Chat Masala Powder - 1/4 tsp(optional)
Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 1/2 tsp
Salt - As required
Oil - 1 tsp

Preparation:

1. Heat oil in a pan, add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes. I do not add ginger garlic paste since the Chana Masala/Chole Masala will taste good without ginger garlic paste also. Add onions. Onions do not need to be finely chopped because we are going to grind it. So, chop into medium sized pieces. Fry till they turn into golden brown color.

2. Add tomato(chopped into medium sized pieces) and saute until the raw smell leaves.

3. Add grated coconut and fry well until the raw smell of coconut leaves.

4. Add turmeric, red chilli, garam masala, dhaniya and chat masala powders, salt and sugar. Fry well for 2 minutes.

5. Switch off the stove and let the mixture cool down.

6. Grind it to a smooth paste by adding required water.

7. Put the mixture in the same pan and add the boiled Chana Dal.

8. Add water if the mixture is too thick. You can add Red chilli powder or any other powders at this stage to suit your taste. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes in simmer or till you get the required consistency. You can also notice a change in the color.

Now, the Chana Masala/Chole Masala is ready to serve with Poori/Chapathi. Including Onion Raitha in the menu will make your breakfast/dinner a delicious one. I am sure your whole family will love this to the core.
